This year, we are proud to join three team members in celebrating a remarkable milestone – 25 years with DEVITA. Trey Moran, Derrick Hiott, and Melissa Anderson have been integral to our company’s story, helping shape not only our projects but also our culture and values. We asked each of them to reflect on their journey. Their stories highlight both personal growth and the evolution of DEVITA over the past quarter-century.
An electrical engineer, Trey began his career with DEVITA as a part-time intern, spending his first summer cleaning up archived project documents. Over the years, he has worn many hats — electrical engineer, project manager, IT support — before stepping into his current roles as DEVITA’s Chief Technology Officer and Director of Engineering for the MEPS Division.
When asked about what he’s most proud of, Trey reflected:
“I’m most proud of the long-lasting client relationships we’ve built and the many church projects I’ve had the privilege to be a part of.”
Today, Trey continues to lead the MEPS division while managing select client projects, blending technical expertise with a dedication to client service.
When Derrick joined DEVITA 25 years ago, he stepped in as a Group Leader. At the time, the company had only about a dozen employees. Derrick not only managed engineering, estimating, and project coordination but also launched DEVITA’s precast division, preparing it for rapid growth and leadership in the precast industry.
Over time, Derrick’s leadership evolved — from group leader to division leader and eventually to Vice President. Reflecting on his journey, Derrick shared:
“My most proud accomplishments while at DEVITA involve taking a company that had just a couple of precast projects under its belt and being able to grow and build the division and company to what it is today. I take great joy in seeing our employees grow, taking pride and a sense of ownership in their respective roles. I take most seriously how you treat and deal with not only your customers, but also your employees. Culture has to be built, and then it can be respected. Our employees and customers know and appreciate when you genuinely care about their well-being.”
As Vice President, Derrick continues to guide teams across Project Management, Engineering, and Drafting, while staying closely connected with clients. His leadership embodies DEVITA’s commitment to both people and projects.
Melissa began her career at DEVITA as an Administrative Assistant, where she tackled a wide variety of responsibilities — from answering phones and booking travel to assembling marketing materials and supporting engineering registrations. Her adaptability and eagerness to contribute allowed her to grow alongside the Company.
Over time, Melissa transitioned into Project Controls and ultimately into her current role as Project Manager in the Precast Division. She continues to bring her organizational strength to project management, while also lending support in marketing, project controls, and administrative tasks as needed.
Melissa reflects proudly on her journey:
“While there have been many rewarding projects, what I’m most proud of is simply being a part of DEVITA’s journey. Witnessing — and contributing to — the company’s growth and evolution over the past 25 years has been an incredible experience and a true blessing.”
Her story is a testament to the power of dedication and the impact of embracing every opportunity to learn and grow.
